At The Medical Center of Aurora, your wound VAC patient can be seen by our Wound Care Team.

Our competent team consists of RNs and Physical Therapists who are trained in wound care and in the use of the negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT).

If you wish to have the Wound Care Team follow your patient, simply write an order to activate NPWT and consult physical therapy for wound care.

To be successful, the Wound Care Team will need to know key characteristics about your patient’s wound:

  • Goal of the therapy (i.e. delayed primary closure, supporting granulation tissue or success of split thickness skin graft or flap)
  • Width, length and depth of the wound
  • Undermining or tunnels in the wound
  • What dressings were applied in surgery (white foam, black foam, silver foam, mepitel or adaptic)

By indicating the information above, you will help prevent retained foreign objects for your surgical patients.

The Wound Care Team can be contacted at 303-695-2645.
